Car Show
White County Fire Department Station 6, is hosting it 3rd Annual Car
Show, Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, August 30, 2008 from 11:00
a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Activities include 50/50 Raffle, Silent

Volunteers for Literacy Boxed Lunch Fundraiser
Volunteers for Literacy of
Habersham County is holding a Boxed Lunch Fundraiser on Friday, September 5th,
2008. Lunches may be picked up between the hours of 10:30
am
and 1:00 pm on Friday, September 5th at Side
Street Deli, 224 Merchants Way, Cornelia (behind the Northeast
Georgian in the Dollar General parking lot). Delivery is available for five or
more lunches per business, school, bank, etc. The boxed lunches are $7.00 each.
Proceeds will support literacy efforts in Habersham County and the event is sponsored by
Side Street Deli, Ingles of Clarkesville and Cornelia and Traditions Bank.
Tickets may be purchased between August 11th and 29th. Call Volunteers for

Friends of the Clarkesville Library Book Sale
The Friends of the
Clarkesville Library sponsor a book sale every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Fiction and non-fiction titles are available in hardcover and paperback
and prices start at 25 cents! The
Friends of the Clarkesville Library is a group that raises funds to help the
library add to its services and collections.
First Steps Needs Volunteers
One quarter of all children
are abused in their lifetime. First
Steps of Habersham County needs volunteers to help with their goal of
preventing child abuse. With a focus on
prevention, volunteers provide parents of newborns with support, education and
referrals to community resources to help diffuse stressful situations that
could become abusive. Volunteering just
one day a month can make a difference!

Adopt-A-Road
The Adopt-A-Road program is being reintroduced
in Lumpkin County and adopting a road is easy! A
sign listing the adopting group or family’s name will be placed on the road and
vests, gloves and other tools will be provided to adopters in order to keep
